what an eventful day

it all started at the lord louis pub

i got there on time but no one was there   Shocked Shocked

then i went inside to have some breakfast

but they were all behind by 20 minutes

i just knew the day was going down hill from here on in

whilst i was waiting for the food to be cooked to my special burn colour   laugh laugh

ryan turned up in his vitara soon followed by his mate in another one

we soon had breakfast and were ready to go

when roadrottie turned up for some lanes

we went outside to set up the laptop when andrew turned up in his pajero

the laptop was soon loaded and we decided to head off

so in i jump ready to go when

i turned the key but the engine just started and died straight away

i tried again and again  Shocked Shocked

never

with time ticking away

we decided to leave mine behind so i jumped in with roadrottie

we headed for cornwall as we had to meet spoonboy

we soon hit the lanes

whilst in the second one of the day i said the vitara does not seem to be doing so well

after 20 feet it was losing traction big time and the further we went the worse it got

till we reached a point where we had to get out waffle boards and tow ropes just to get him to the top of the lane   Shocked Shocked

then we discovered that roadrotties shogun had a sticky clutch pedal   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

a bit strange but we got to the top of the lane and went to pull away when the pedal went to the floor and that was it   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

after we looked underneath we found there was fluid coming out from the rubber boot on the slave cylinder   Shocked Shocked

roadrottie said thats that then where will we get one of those on a bank holiday  Angry Angry

i said i have a new one back at the garage  Grin Grin

so andrew drove me back to get it

we soon got back to fit the slave cylinder a quick bleed then we were off again

now we were missing the 2 vitaras as they had a broken driveshaft so decided to head home

we cracked on doing some great lanes when andrew shouts down the cb he had a noise

on inspection he had pushed the running board back onto the rear tyre   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

what ever next i ask you   laugh laugh

we decended down one of cornwalls finest lanes only to hear andrew again ive got no brakes

no way  Shocked Shocked

so we stopped again to investigate the problem

ah yes i found fluid pouring out of the rear brake pipe which goes from the axle up to the chassis

so out came the tools we had no brake pipe clamps no mould grips and only 2 zip ties

but its ok i clamped off the pipe with some pliers with a zip tie holding the end of the pliers in the compressed position

which held the fluid inside  Wink Wink

wow you just could not make this up could you   laugh laugh

again we get in ready to go when spoonboy said lee i think ive scratched my wing    laugh laugh

so all in all we have all had car trouble of one kind or another today

roadrottie went to get a waffle board to help the vitara

here we have andrew in the pajero

in this lane we were a bit surprised to find a clio driving along   Shocked Shocked

i reckon they took a wrong turn with there sat nav   laugh laugh

heres andrew with one of the kids

here is spoonboy with the kays catalogue tree climbing photo   laugh laugh

we pulled the board off the tyre

ive scratched my wing  Shocked Shocked

well thats it then we all have had a problem today   laugh laugh

here we have the only tool for the job

another quality job it got us through the rest of the day and all the way home without losing any more fluid   Wink Wink

we decided to drop into the spar shop for some refreshments on the way home

where we heard this roar from down the road

when this bad boy turned up

it truly sounded awesome like an angel singing in my ear   laugh laugh

well we got talking to this chap who has had this truck for 30 years

oh yes that would explain the noise

away with the original granada v6 engine and in with this v8 with a webber 45

awesome

as you all know my love for landrovers is very low so much so i would like to see them all scrapped

but this is a thing of beauty i just love it

so much so i would even buy it if the price was right

 Shocked Shocked

all in all we were dealt a very bad hand today but we muddled through with plenty of teamwork and the minimalist of tools and supplies

like you do

now all i need to do is fit a new fuel pump tomorrow

but looking on the bright side

i have no dirty car to wash   Wink

no massive fuel cost today   Wink

no damage   Wink

so happy days   laugh laugh

big thanks to all that came today

it turned out to be a day ill not forget in a hurry as it was a great

till the next adventure

 Grin Grin Grin

Hi all

What a day indeed !

Maybe we should have taken more notice of these,we kept seeing them but as usual threw caution to the wind.

The second lane caused a queue, what could be occurring ?

The 3wd Vitara needed help....... surely it must have been broken before we started the day ?

We eventually got to the top and roadrottie had no clutch  Roll Eyes Lee tried to hide as he knew he had to do some work  Shocked

Allowing the mud to get in your slave cylinder results in this  Roll Eyes

With all the waiting around my mind wandered to how the primrose's were putting on a good display at the moment  Wink

With the two Vits wisely deciding not to risk more damage we pressed on

Lets see if we can all get down this one ok ?

Lee tried to hide again when Andrew over extended a brake pipe and jammed his side step into the rear wheel.... but we made him lie down in the mud again

This is a lovely place especially when you have plenty of time to enjoy it.... laugh

Fair play to Andrew who continued along some pretty gnarly lanes with a pair of pliers cable tied onto his busted brake line  Shocked laugh

At one point I caught Lee looking in here.....''if anything else goes wrong'' he said

Luckily nothing did and we all went home for tea...well i did but Lee had to fix two cars  laugh

Well done to Lee for the repairs-good job you had a big breakfast.

Welcome to all the new guys and cheers to roadrottie for leading.

And they all lived happily ever after.

(I will do a video when I sort out all corrupted video files my phone took  Angry.....luckily techno-problems was the only problems I had  laugh)

well first thing this morning i managed to take a look at the shogun

i took out the pump to see if there was anything inside the tank apart from petrol

but it looked all good nice clear fuel  Huh? Huh?

so whilst there was no pressure in the fuel line i thought id just as well fit a new filter

all done ready for another day out hopefully a bit further than the pub car park   laugh laugh
